2005 Production: Showcase 2005 Dir: Various Venue: Telford College
Two pieces for the Telford Christmas Showcase, one Contemporary, one Jazz. This was Jo's first opportunity since graduating to choreograph work that was totally based in jazz and contemporary, as all of her work up until then had been in tap. It gave her the opportunity to find another voice to her work and also to show that she wasn't and isn't a one trick pony.
2005 Production: Plain Speaking Dir: Pamela Carter Venue: Tramway, Glasgow
"Plain Speaking" was a fantastic project to work on. The play took place on an extremely large table that the audience sat around. It involved 5 people and marked Jo's debut both on the "Scottish Theatre Scene" and working with actors who had little or no dance experience.
2005 Production: Fan Attic Dir: Morag Deyes Venue: Dance Base, Edinburgh
"Fan Attic" was a cabaret production produced specially for The Edinburgh Fringe 2005. Jo's tap trio The Claquettes made their debut here and were extremely well received. Jo's idea behind the trio was to take tap back to what it was. In homage to those who taught and inspired her during her time in New York, Jo stripped tap of it's musical theatre persona (teeth, taps, glitz and glamour) and focused on the rhythm, the smoothness of the beat and the joy that it brings to those who do and those that watch.
" Newly-formed Glasgow group The Claquettes are a joy, tapdancing to classic jazz numbers" Kelly Apter (excerpt from The Scotsman, Fri 19 Aug 2005)
